Aberdares: Waterfall
Aberdares: Waterfall

After an early breakfast you will set off with a prepared picnic basket for the Aberdares National Park. The Park with its magnificent landscape offers a wonderful unique opportunity. To view scenery you don’t necessarily expect in Africa. Heavy rainfalls provide a very lush green looking flora in the lower parts of the forest. The rainforest reaches an altitude of 2400 meters; bamboo forest grows up to 3000 meters from where the landscape changes to Afro alpine zone.

The highest peak on these moorlands reaches an altitude of 4000m. Plant species, such giant lobelia, groundsels and others, can be found in the sheltered valleys.

Deep gorges cut off the mountain areas, where you will find crystal clear rivers well stocked with mountain trout, threading their way across the moorlands and cascading over a series of magnificent waterfalls to form the headwaters of several major rivers.

Main animals to be seen here are the buffalo, elephant, bushbuck, wild pigs, colobus monkeys, but the rhino, lions, leopard, hyena are also at home in this National Park. You will stop at a beautiful and secure place for a picnic and arrive at home just before nightfall. You will have a lot of experiences to talk about after this day.
